How can I recover my account when it is stripped of its old email alias?

Since you have mentioned that you have been using this account and can't make any changes to it, I just want to clarify if you do have access to this account?

If no, the only option to recover a Microsoft account is through the account recovery webform:

If you're unable to recover the account through the ACSR or password reset, I'm afraid it is no longer possible to access the account.

If you're able to recover the account, (Just in case the old school email was accessed after ACSR) you can switch the email address alias of your old school email as primary and switch it as secondary by adding a new email address alias on your account. Here's how:

Add a new email address on your Microsoft account on account.microsoft.com > Your Info > manage how you sign in > then add the alias.

Note: Make sure that the new email address is not associated with any Microsoft account.

Then switch the new email alias making it as a primary alias and your old school email will be the secondary alias.

Note: This change is only for sign-in preferences. Please do not remove your old school email from your account as this may cause permanent deletion of your files or saved data progress. Remain it as your secondary alias.

So i created a microsoft account and redeemed a gift card code for minecraft java edition. Everything normal and i can play the game.

Recently I have changed my primary alias of my microsoft account, which is the primary email, and then i deleted my old alias. Doing this made me lose access to minecraft account. Before I could play it no problem but now it says "Play Demo" in the launcher, meaning i dont have access to it.

I hope I can recover the minecraft account with a transaction ID or revert back to the old email alias.

What I would do is...

In your new MS account

• Add a new temporary alias (use an outlook.com alias - can be anything, it's only temporary)
• Make this your primary alias
• remove the alias you want to add to the old account

In your old MS account:

• Add the new email address as an alias
• Make this your primary alias
• Remove any email aliases you no longer use

Thanks for posting here on the Xbox forums. In order to change the email to your Microsoft account, you would first have to add an alias (Email). After adding the new alias, you can make it the primary email. Once you have the new primary email, you can
remove the old one from your account.
