Hello Gerard, this is Manuela. I'm an Independent Advisor and community user like you, ready to assist with this.
Not a Microsoft employee.

Do you mean to something like split your TV screen to show your PC image and the cable image at the same time?

Would you use/buy a Hand Held Xbox ?

I think the switch should be the switch, and xbox be the home console, with the added computer and mobile dominance it is currently. maybe a more uniformed transfer say between computer, tv, and mobile, but there's only so much a cell phone can do. I think
Xbox has an amazing presence already, and is pretty much already Xbox on the go with some games being able to play on a laptop/tablet, and mobile device.

I have no sound on my Xbox one

The HDMI In port is ONLY for when you want to attach a TV Set Top box like a cable box or sattelite reciever, so you can seamlessly switch between watching TV and playing a game.

If you don't intend to watch TV through your Xbox, do not use HDMI in.

The Setup for TV and AV control is only there, if you want to set up the infrared remote control commands to switch Tv channels and turn your TV and AV surround reciever on and off.

If your visitors want to save their game progress, they should create their own Microsoft Account and use that.

That's what I do with my nephews and nieces, when they come to visit. If they get a console for themselves later they can then continue their saved games.

If saving progession is not an issue, they can sign in as guests to an existing account, and play as guest.

My Xbox X turns OFF game mode when it switches from a non-4K game back to the 4K menus. How do I force it to leave game mode on at all times? I hate menu input lag.

Your TV is detecting you're playing a game and switching. You should consult your TV manual, or call their support on how to disable that

Might Never Look At The 360 Version The Same Again
To the arguments of wanting a controller/couch, you are aware that you can plug a TV into an HDMI output slot on the back of your motherboard, and you can plug in an xbox controller in a USB port, right? I never really got that argument against PC gaming;
it's by far the one that holds absolutely no weight, seeing as you can have the exact same setup with about 20 seconds of extra work.
I'll also add, that not every computer has a HDMI slot. Mine is a fairly recent computer, slightly over a year old, and it doesn't have one. And also, not everyone has a new TV that has all the ports. Heck, my parents just last month got a HD capable TV,
until then it was lucky if they got a TV that had the composite cable inputs.

Will also add to the comment about the controllers... It seems, at least in my experience, a good amount of games that is compatible with the 360 controller isn't plug and play. Even with Oblivion I had to go and fix the control scheme since the default
was screwy and no where near playable since I was use to the console control scheme at that point. And that can be a challenge depending on the developers. Some just don't seem to make the PC versions controller friendly without jumping through hoops or downloading
third-party software.

And lastly there is the room layout. Depending on the usage and decor, people might just not have the option of having their computer within range of their TV. In my old apartment, my computer and TV was in separate rooms and there was no way I could of
fit my desk next to the TV, and pointless to put the TV in a little alcove where I had my desk/computer set up. So outside of moving my computer between rooms before and after each play session or making my computer impractical for everyday use, it was an
either or situation for me for the longest time. And once I finish getting things settled down here, and move it will become one again.
