How can I link my Xbox account to my Epic Account?

I have recently downloaded Fortnite on my Xbox one and was automatically linked to my live account. I created an account with epic games and tried to link it to my xbox account and can't because of the initial download on my console was currently
linked. Can you tell me how to unlinked this so I can link my epic account?

there is no option to move items etc from one Xbox Live Account to another, but since it's Fortnite related, there might be an alternate solution.

I think the content for Fortnite is linked to the Fortnite account (Epic account) and that can be linked to a different Xbox Live Account.

Keep in mind to not use the Xbox Live Accounts or Epic Accounts when on a console, since this could result in a new Epic Account being created.

I do advise you to contact Epic Support first so they can confirm the steps to take to make this possible before trying something. The earlier mentioned link has a Contact options.

We understand you are having issues with linking your Xbox account to your Epic account. This is a common issue that can happen when you have more than one Epic account associated with different platforms. We can try some steps to fix the issue however if the steps fail, you may need to reach Epic Support for further assistance.

To resolve this, you will need to unlink the Epic account that is currently connected to your Xbox account, and then link the Epic account that has your purchases in it. Here are the steps to do that:

1. Go to https://www.epicgames.com/account/ and sign in with the Epic account that is linked to your Xbox account.
2. Click on Connections in the left menu, and then click on Accounts.
3. Find the Xbox icon and click on Disconnect.
4. Confirm that you want to unlink the account and enter your password if prompted.

5. Sign out of the Epic account and sign in with the Epic account that has your purchases in it.
6. Repeat steps 2 and 3, but this time click on Connect instead of Disconnect.
7. Follow the instructions to link your Xbox account to your Epic account. After doing this, you should be able to access your purchases on both platforms.

If you are having trouble linking your accounts, it's possible that there is already an Epic Games account associated with your Xbox account. In this case, you may need to contact Epic Games support for assistance. Deleting the Epic Games account associated with your Xbox account is not recommended, as it may cause you to lose access to any purchases or progress associated with that account.
