How can I limit download speed on the XB1?

How can I set a download speed limit on the XB1? When there's a download running it ties up my entire bandwidth. I'm left with the choice of no downloading or having everything else choked down to near nothing. This is such a basic option I see on every
game client that I find it hard to believe there's not a way to do it. Even a way to set preferred hours would help.

I have ATT and for anyone who might not be familiar with them you've no choice but to use their hardware and you have almost no control so there's no QOS settings.

Thank you for your post. I understand you are looking for a way to limit download speed on your Xbox One. Speed limiting for downloads is not an available feature for the Xbox One, a way around this could be through your router's configurations. Many routers
made recently have options for limiting bandwidth to devices on the network.

While there is no method (yet) to throttle the download speed on your console, simply start playing an online game.

As soon as a game uses the Xbox Live service, the Xbox automatically throttles it's background downloads, to maximize the bandwidth for your online multiplayer session.

I know this is a cumbersome workaround, but an online game requires fewer bandwidth than a download at full speed, and you should get better bandwidth for your other applications.

If all else fails, simply shut down the console into energy saving mode, so the console is completely turned off.

You can do that by holding the power button on the console for about 10 seconds, or going into the system settings and set the energy settings to "Power saving" mode instead of "Instant on".

That way the console is really shut down and doesn't do background downloads when you need the bandwidth.

You could always get a small managed switch, and throttle your speed to the console that way if you have no control over the Router. That's another option, my Xbox also eats up all the bandwidth, but i just run the updates over night while I'm asleep.

These may be the only choices I have: buying more hardware to make up for the lack of a basic function or tedious micromanaging.

There is no problem with LIVE that I can see. I've just downloaded a 700MB demo in under 5 minutes. What is your download speed? Can you do the speed test suggested by colllecionador? Thanks

There are no speed limits on Xbox LIVE. But speeds can be effected depending on what you are downloading, and how many other people are downloading the same thing. Also speeds are dependant on capabilities of your ISP.
