How can I get my discs to work

Hi,

I have inserted many discs into my disc drive but it will always tell me that my disc is dirty or damaged and that I need to insert a new one. This has happened with all my discs. I think that this may be a problem with my disc reader, but does anyone have any tips to help me get my discs working because I really don’t want to have to buy a new Xbox just for a couple of games

Probably the disc drive is defective and need to be replaced

I don't like to give bad news, but as you say. It seems to be a problem with the disc drive.

I can suggest some things, just to cover everything from your side. They're optional, if the issue persist you may need to get your console inspected and repaired in the closest authorized retailer or where original parts are used

A. Power cycle the console
1. Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.
2. Unplug the console's power cable from the console and from the power outlet. Wait 5 minutes.
Important: Be sure to wait at least 5 minutes. This step resets the power supply.
3. Plug the console power cable back in.
4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on.

B. Do a factory reset but keeping games and apps
Open Settings > System > Console info > reset and then select keep my games and apps

C. Perform an offline update for your console.
In that way Xbox system will be installed from scratch.

Alrighty Trooper,

As Mister Cerb said, some discs can be fickle things. I recently had to get a new Halo 4 disc but I still have an Orange Box disc that works brilliantly.
