How can I create a backup game save for a game with an external HDD?

You can't save then on a external storage. You need to connect your console to Xbox Live and all your ssves will be on the cloud.

What happens if you visit the external HDD and move the saves from the HDD to your console's HDD? Is there any change with the backup saves there?

Is there a "how-to" you can point me to that gives instructions for how to make save game backups to an external drive? I have googled but only found info on moving game installs.

Once you HDD crash or XB replacement, it may be end of the game.

Here is the fantastic thing with digital, you can copy the game to more than one HDD. All my games are on external drives, as is my profile backup. If I have to reset or get a new Xbox, I just plug the HDDs in, follow the on screen prompts and bingo Xbox
is set to how I like it.

also, are there plans in a future update to let us back up our game saves to a USB stick or external drive?

guess I don't fully trust the Cloud and would prefer if we could create a local backup of game saves as well.
