How can I connect my child's Nintendo Switch to the Microsoft family safety?

have you downloaded the xbox family settings app? it took me 3 apps to finally get it fixed, the switch parental controlls, the microsoft family safety and the xbox family app. it was the xbox app that let me connect my daughters account so she could play minecraft online with friends

This did not help me. It says I need to connect her device in order to allow her to play multi-player, but I'm not able to connect the switch with any of the options. Her switch isn't an Xbox and it's not a windows 10 device.

I have been going at this since last night looking for the settings to change so my kids can play with us. Thank you.

I’m having this exact same issue and I’m super frustrated! My boys both have Nintendo switches and I can’t figure out how to link their Nintendos to this family sharing and it’s very annoying!!

Please visit the next link and sign in with the adult account
https://account.xbox.com/Settings

Once there make sure to click first in the user name associated with your daughter's account
Then click on "Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 devices Online Safety"

And allow these categories:
You can play with people outside of Xbox Live

You can join multiplayer games

Click on "submit" to save changes, close and open Minecraft in the console and verify if she is able to play now.

As a reminder, a Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required to play multiplayer
