Yes, that is correct. You've got nothing to worry, once you have recovered your account where you have all the games and progress, you can set it as the main account on your console.

Once you have signed in your main account you will be able to install and play your games.

In order to recover your account, you can proceed with resetting your password by signing your account on account.microsoft.com > Click on Forgot Password > Then follow the instructions to recover the account.

As for setting the account as your home Xbox, sign in to your main account on your console > press the Xbox menu button > Settings > Personalization > My home Xbox > then click on Make this my home Xbox.
