Don't get confused between 3.0 and 3.1 either. The standard was changed a few years ago, but, suffice as to say, USB 3.0 is now called USB 3.1, but it's still all BC with the older standards. The hard drive connected to my old Xbox 360 is a modern USB 3.0/3.1 drive. It works fine.

May I point however, to get the USB 3.0 speed from Flash or an external hard drive, the drive itself needs to be designed for USB 3.0. If you insert a USB 2.0 device into a 3.0 you'll still get 2.0 speeds.
