Home Xbox Migration Series X

We have a Day One edition Xbox One currently set as my home Xbox. I’ve got a Series X coming in 10 days. Xbox support documents say my home Xbox will be moved to the Series X the first time I login and save my password. The support document also says in
order for my kids to still be able to access content associated with my account like DLC, season passes and Games With Gold, I’ll just need to be signed into the Xbox One and that will grant my kids who have it set as their home Xbox access to content associated
with my account. So long as I stay logged in there while they are logged in too. And I know I can’t be signed in on the Series X and the Xbox One at the same time. Wouldn’t it be simpler to just swap my home Xbox back to the Xbox One? That way we can use the
dual sign in on the Series X if they want to play stuff there but I won’t have to be signed into the Xbox One for them to access all the content. I’ll just log in to the Series X to play, and if the internet goes down and I’m offline I’ll just have to wait
to get back online to play on the Series X. I know there are a lot of multi generation multi console household out there now and I’d like to know what works best for people.

Hey thanks! Perfect. I read the support FAQ about setup and it says something like "as soon as you sign in and save your password" the Series X will be set as home. I figured there should be some sort of confirmation about that, turns out there is. Anyway,
thanks, that'll work better. Our internet goes down once every couple years, be rare that I couldn't play until I got back online, so it's just easier for me to leave the home console set to the One.

The Home setting is not automatically switched as soon as you sign into the new console. If you're the one setting it up, it will ask during set up if you want to make the console your Home. If uou want to leave the One as your Home, just say no.

Are you offline? Is the Series X your home Xbox?

No my Xbox series x is online and on the same network as my Xbox one and my Xbox series x is set as my home Xbox

I don’t have it installed only the series x version. You also have to migrate your character from the old version to the new version so I would lose all my progress since migrating. Is it possible to change it to a series x version?

Everything on the cloud that has a Series X version is the Series X version

Cloud gaming behaves exactly like if the hardware was local. If your character is migrated it's available
