Home Xbox and game pass/live issues

Hi,

Quick Q, and hopefully it’s simple to answer,

So we have

Xbox series X

Xbox one

Both were working fine following the guides here and linked below until a few days ago following Activision advice with MW3 issues asking me to remove account from XBX

This is what I followed in January with new XBX

But for some reason my son can now no longer play online on the XB1

So ….

Xbox X is signed in as me and I use it

Xbox one is signed in as me, made to be home, signed out, he signs in but can’t now play online anymore with game pass games showing the explanation mark in a triangle on the game icon

BUT…. With only 3 swaps left (think that’s wrong when your all in the same house and family account)

I now have to use the XB1 and him the XBX so we can play online, as if it’s all backwards

Have I missed something or a setting messed up somewhere?

Will try again but concerned as will run out of swaps ‍♂️

Hello King Johnny,

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. As per the
Xbox game pass FAQ - "Does Home Console work with Xbox Game Pass?"

"Standard Xbox home sharing policies apply to Xbox Game Pass, just as they do to Xbox Live Gold."

So, there shouldn't be any issues with sharing the game pass subscription as you would an Xbox live gold subscription. Check out this link for assistance with setting up home consoles:

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues playing online with your son.

That's odd. Would you mind checking this for me?

- On the Series X console, sign in to your account and go to Settings > General > Personalization > My Home Xbox > and see if for any reason, the box for "Make this my home Xbox" is checked. This would make sense since you mentioned your son can play on this console while you play on the Xbox One.

To avoid further use of your Home Xbox switches, don't change any settings yet.

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums with this issue. When it comes to Xbox Game Pass, the subscription cannot be shared as the Xbox Live Gold subscription can. In order to play a game from Game Pass, your father's profile must be set as the Home
Console profile of your console and then the game downloaded. After that, the Home Console setting will allow you to play the downloaded game on your profile, even when his profile is not signed in.

The Xbox in my living room is the Home Xbox with multiple accounts including my account that has the Game Pass.

My Home Xbox in the living room has my account w the Game Pass and my kids accounts.

If we set up the old Xbox in my daughter's room will she have access to play games with her Xbox that are downloaded on our Home Xbox?

Yes you can share Game Pass on Xbox if you use the desginated Home Xbox console to share with. Here's how to designate your console as the Home Console, also what can be shared and how. It's important to know Ultimate Game Pass cannot be shared on PCs currently.
