Jen, unfortunately it is not possible to enjoy a game or a shared subscription at the same time with another person.

Only 1 user at a time can use the product.

If you want to play at the same time, then really each one will have to have the game or subscription for their own account.

If both Xbox consoles are
signing into the same gamertag/account at once, one session will automatically get signed out. I suggest creating an new account for your son.

If you have a digital game library and an active Gold subscription, you can share both of those with your son

using the "Gold/Game-sharing" feature. A recommended way to achieve this is to

set your son's Xbox as the "home" console.

Are you and your girlfriend trying to play at the same time from the same console? If so then it depends on if the game allows it. Otherwise the answer would be no.

It depends on the game really. Some games such as Halo 3 allows multiple people to play from one xbox at the same time online.
