  1. Home Theater: No rear channel sound on Xbox One Optical Output

Hi - I've got the following connection:

DirecTV Genie >> Xbox One >> TV via HDMI

Then I've got an optical out from the Xbox One direct to a Denon AVR 2311 receiver.

I've got the Xbox One set to Optical Audio Bitstream Dolby Digital but when I watch anything on DirecTV the rear channel surrounds are silent.

Am I missing something? Or does Xbox One not output full 5.1 over Optical? If yes, what's the point of the Dolby and DTS options?

Will I get better results if I plug the Xbox into the receiver via HDMI?

    thanks

    :)

    Xbox one surround sound issues.

Also I tried the hdmi bitstream mode with both Dolby options, however this doesn't seem to output any sound.

I can't connect my Xbox one directly to the spdif on the home theater, since I don't own a rca to optical toslink active adapter.

  3. Optical audio out option 5.1 compressed

I have a home theater system with optical input and not the 5.1 already compressed as option informs the support site. On my system has only esterio options and uncompressed bitstream output. In the bitstream options are not presenting the sound in the center
    box of the home theater

Xbox one Optical output for sound bar not working after update

To build off of Onyx's post, how is your sound bar currently set up? We recommend having the audio output go out via HDMI, and then connect the sound bar to the TV's optical audio port. Check the suggestion under 'Audio receiver with optical or soundbar'
    on our
Xbox One to Home Theatre support page
    .

Let us know if that helps!

    Hi GhosterZG,

Your choices for sound output on the Xbox are either via HDMI or Toslink/Optical out. Check out this link to the Connect
your Xbox One to your home theater system for live TV
which show audio set up options.

I believe The optical out port is digital and and it may require a DAC (digital to analogue converter) as most devices that use Toslink like have a DAC built in.

You could try looking at Toslink/Optical Out - 3.5mm adaptors but not sure if you will run into issues /if this will work.

    Hope this helps :)

need help setting up surround sound !!

    There is!

The regular stereo output on the Xbox 360 is matrix surround encoded from the multi channel output of the game. This way, if your surround system has Dolby Pro Logic II, you can enable it to get surround. The sound field won't be as stable and detailed as with
discrete 5.1 sound, but it will restore the overall directionality of the sound mix.

The easiest way to set things up in this case is to connect the TVs analog audio output to the home theater systems audio input (often labelled AUX as in auxilliary) using a standard 2x RCA male-male audio cable. Leave the sound settings on the Xbox 360 at
Digital Stereo. Then enable Dolby Pro Logic II on the home theater system and you're set.

Depending on what TV and home theater system you have, there may be caveats. If you post the brand and model numbers of them here it will be easier to figure it out in more detail.
