Home-less: Just bought a Series X, and Can't Set it to Home (I've NEVER switched Home either)

Here is what I did:

I made my old Xbox One not Home anymore from the "Devices" page on my account.

I attempted to make my new Series X Home using the Personalization tab in Settings on my Xbox Series X.

After checking the box, I got a spinning wheel, then the box unchecked itself.

I now have no Home console at all.

I've followed all instructions I could find in this and other forums.

I'm also upset by this because I've wasted literal hours trying to fix this problem, and I can't even get live technical support.

Questions:

How can I escalate this problem so I can get it resolved?

Is there a known, working fix?

Is this a known issue?

I'm seeing other users having the same issue today. They're trying to set Xbox as the Home Xbox and it's not working. They tried to remove and add the account again, tried to add another account to the console and even tried to factory reset Xbox and still nothing. After checking the box, it will just load and then get unchecked again, same issue as you:

I think it's just a glitch/bug happening right now on Xbox. You can try to wait a few hours to see if it gets solved. But if you want to do a few steps to try to fix it, please let me know and I can guide you through.

Microsoft is aware of the problem. It started 4-5 days ago from what I've heard.

If your son bought it, you would only be able to access the game if you're using his Home console. If the Series X is not set as his Home, then that's why you can't access it.

You would need to set his console as your Home in order to share the Ultimate subscription with him. https://beta.support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/console/my-home-xbox

However, you can only set 1 console as your Home at a time, so if you are sharing with anyone else on the Series X, they will lose access to the subscription and either you would need to be signed in or you leave the Series X as your Home and buy your son
his own subscription.
