High Latency - Only on the Series X

hi all, thanks in advance for any advice.

I have had my series X for well over a year, was lucky to pick one up early, ive never had any issues with any game before, but for the last month or so games have been unplayable online with Latency (calculated by the Xbox in the sys options) from 210-260ms. As youd expect with pings that high, games are laggy and your ability to compete is practically zero.

My Xbox has Open NAT, and i have tried manual DNS (google and cloudfire was it), but i see no difference to when its left in auto. i've followed some advice on other forums and gone into offline mode, changing region, going back to Australia, clearing the MAC, etc etc etc - still....high latency. I only ever connect via ethernet, no wifi.

Im on the NBN and speedtest on my laptop that plugged into the same router as the XSX indicate to me im downloading 45mbps, uploading 16mbps - very close to the best optus can do on my line. Latency on speed tests indicate around 15ms. I have repeated these tests on the Xbox through the Edge app.

Now because the NBN cheaped out and left me stuck with copper to the node, i really cant upgrade my plan, but even with this poor situation, i never have any issues really, i can stream 4k easy and as i indicated above get close to my lines max potential. Given everything i have done to troubleshoot and the fact nothing on my end has changed from when things used to work well 1+ months ago...i am thinking this is not a me problem.

I'm actually thinking this may be something to do with the fact Im in Perth WA...my theory is that perhaps there are no WA servers and im havin to go cross country, maybe im constantly connecting to a server thats under high load.. i dont really know im not an expert beyond my own setup. I'd be really keen to hear from other Perth people to see if they are getting high latency.

thoughts or suggestions welcome - im going to try and contact MS directly tomorrow as for the last month online play is wrecked... it cant continue.

    cheers

    :)

High Latency - Only on the Series X

and sorry we are talking about multiple games being effected, some even giving me warnings of high ping, DayZ etc.

I even play Dayz on my gaming PC - same optus connection. my ping is good and the game runs fine.

Last week my xbox was giving me 100% packet loss issues, which ive seen others on forums were getting, so i suspect MS server issues, but no idea what they are up to - things used to be so ok...

    Xbox Series X Controller Compatibility

    Hi!

Of course, the pad will be compatible with Series X, as specified in the
    glossary
    .

One of the first points to reduce latency is within the communication between your controller and your console. By bringing our existing high-bandwidth, low-latency wireless protocol on the Xbox One family of devices to Xbox Series X, we’re able to not
only reduce latency in your gaming experience but also ensure all of your existing Xbox One gaming accessories will be compatible with Xbox Series X.

Xbox cloud gaming on Series S powered by Series X

they are using series x hardware in the datacentre's now, so in fact series games on the cloud are running via mostly series x hardware, still the quality is set by your internet speed and latency, if you have good speeds but your latency is rubbish then you will get reduced picture quality to prioritise controller latency.

but cloud gaming is still only streamed at 720p.

High Latency on Xbox Series X

    Hello MarioVarani,

Try to turn off the console and remove the power cord; wait for 1 to 2 minutes before plugging it back in and turn on the console and check again!

If the issue persists, I would strongly suggest trying the troubleshooting steps below:

Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear

Then select System > Settings > devices and streaming > blue ray > persistent storage > clear three times > restart console.

If the issue persists, try to soft reset the console:

Settings > System > Console Info > Reset This Xbox > Reset and Keep my Games and Apps.

High Latency on Xbox Series X

Hello dear Gamer, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

    My name is Vinicius.

I am a gamer and independent advisor on the XBOX community platform.

Hey Mario, how are you today? Hope you're well.

    So, you could try this:

Call your internet service provider, and ask them to open the ports described below on your router.

    Port 88 (UDP)

    Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)

    Port 53 (UDP and TCP)

    Port 80 (TCP)

    Port 500 (UDP)

    Port 3544 (UDP)

    Port 4500 (UDP)

Also ask to disable and then, enable it again the UPnP function and if you have a modem and a router the process has to be done on both devices.

Besides, ask them to put their console's IP in the DMZ zone configuration.

(To find the Xbox One IP address, press the Xbox button to open the dashboard, go to System > Settings > General > Network settings, then select Advanced settings.)

    also:

First clean the cache of your console that way:

    1. Hold the XBOX power button on the console for 10 seconds until you hear a small sound.

    2. Wait 10 seconds.

    3. Turn it back on.

Note: It may take a while for him to call, don't worry, it's normal.

Then, restore your console keeping the games and apps:

***IMPORTANT*** If you share accounts with someone, you will have to redo the process of placing the account as the main one again, be aware of the chances you still have to do this, as Microsoft makes available per year, only 5 chances so you can make some account your console's main account.

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the dashboard.

    2. Select System > Settings > System > Console Information >

    3. Select Reset console > Restore and keep my games and apps.

    4. When asking to pull settings from an old xbox, put no

    5. You will have to log in your accounts again, and when you sign in with your account, make sure you turn it has your home console also, that's it.

NOTE: Rest assured, you won't lose games or saves
