Have you switched on HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Colour in the GENERAL settings menu on your TV for the HDMI port thats connected to your One S because its set to off by default and until you switch this On the One S won't register the correct settings needed to

All TV's have HDMI in, they won't have HDMI out. Unless, your 'TV' isn't actually a TV at all and is an PC built into a monitor. Such a PC would be an All-in-One PC.

Either the HDMI on your TV is faulty or the console.

If it's an original Xbox One, One S or One X, make sure you connect the HDMI cable to the port on the console that says HDMI out.

TV's and monitors have HDMI in so that other devices such as console, DVD/Blu-ray player or laptop can be connected to them.

The HDMI on a laptops is an HDMI out. This allows you to connect the laptop to a TV or monitor and display the laptop screen on an external display.
