    Thanks, but can the drive be formatted without the 360 deleting everything that's already on my external hard drive, or will I just have to rebackup everything after the 360 deletes it and formats it?

    Hi,

    Unfortunately once it's formatted the drive will be marked as empty. Unlike on a PC, it's not possible to restore the drive to how it was before.

    All is not lost though. Your purchased digital games are available to download again from your library.

    hello fellow gamer I'm sorry to inform you but there is no way to recover that data you will have to redownload all of your games to the drive.

    You would just have to go through your library and reinstall them.
