Thanks for coming to the forums. Your friend needs to adjust his Xbox live privacy settings. There are two under communication and multiplayer that need to allow.

1. You can play with people outside Xbox live
2. You can communicate outside of Xbox live with voice and text

You need to remember that there are all ages on Xbox Live. Some older like me and some much younger like pre-school children. Xbox Love is Rate E for everyone even though there are games that have different rating. You need to remember that you need to
play and communicate at the E rating. This is what the code of conduct is trying to live up to and when you signed up for an account, you agreed to the conditions.

You can enable the multiplayer for Minecraft from the Xbox Family Settings app on your mobile device.

To download the Family App: https://www.xbox.com/apps/family-settings-app

Click on the Account Name > Settings (The cog on the top right) > Multiplayer > Allow

Then, on the same window, under Cross-play:

Allow Crossplay

Allow Communication with Friends

On the bottom of the page, Clubs > Allow (For Minecraft Realms).

Then, to enable cross-play, we need to go to your account privacy settings.

Please, enter this site: https://account.xbox.com/settings

On the Privacy Tab options:

"See other people's Xbox Live profiles" > Set it to either Everyone or Friends

"You can see and upload community creations" > Set it to either Everyone or Friends

"You can communicate outside of Xbox Live with voice & text" > Set it to Allow

Click Submit.

Then, switch over to the Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety tab.

Set the options below to Allow:

"You can play with people outside of Xbox Live"

"You can join multiplayer games"

"You can add friends"

Don't forget to click on "Submit" to save the settings.

Hi, my son is 8 he is new to xbox live and would love to have some friends his age to play minecraft with. His gamertag is , he doesn't have a mic yet, would it be ok if we send some friend requests?
