hi everybody, anyone know why my xbox HDD says "unformatted", well, i formatted the HDD but, ...

Well it would seem that the hdd is permanently stuffed as i have just tried to format it.

the format was performed with no errors but the console still says that the hdd is unformatted, i'm going to take it to the game store tomorrow to see if the drive is recognized in one of their xbox's as i have no friends who have the new slim console for
me to test it on, if it is recognized by their console then i know that there must be a problem with my consoles hdd ports.

I believe I have the Xbox E. The model number is 1538. It does show the internal drive as unformatted. I tried formatting it, but that doesn't change it. It still says unformatted. It reads the HDD just fine. I formatted that one as well just to exhaust
all of my options, but no luck. I removed the HDD, all flash drives, and disconnected the ethernet cable before trying to format the internal storage, but that didn't help. It still says unformatted. With all of that removed still, I tried to update via USB
but I still got the 3F4B-42FE-1600-267F-C000-0185 error. Am I doing something wrong?

I APPRECIATE YOU ARE TRYING TO HELP, BUT JUST TO CLARIFY - I CANT ACCESS THE GAME SAVES ON THE HDD AS IT IS SHOWING AS UNFORMATTED! (WHEN A HDD IS SHOWING AS UNFORMATTED IT MEANS YOUR XBOX CANNOT ACCESS ANY OF THE INFO / DATA ON IT) SO CANT SAVE ANYTHING
ACROSS....... ALSO CLOUD DOSENT ALLOW FLASH MEMORY TO SETUP, HAS TO BE HDD MEMORY. (AND AS I SAID BEFORE I FUSES TO FORMAT THE HDD UNTIL MICROSOFT ISSUE A STATEMENT TO SAY IT IS THEIR STUFFED UP AND IF THEY CAN OR CAN'T FIX IT!)

you could try to disconnect and connect that HDD again (when console is turned off) or try that new HDD on a different console.

But if it also shows up as unformatted, I'm sorry to say, but your files will be lost, if you don't have a backup on the 'old' hdd or on the usb.

You could try formatting it again, (that will erase any data on it) but since it is new you could also return it.
