help!!

I played through GTAV once, then decided to try again. On my first play through I had no hangs, freezes or any problems. I then selected "new game" and re-started. Since then it keeps freezing. It has been at different points, playing as different characters,
on different missions, sometimes in a car, sometimes on foot, but I can never play for more than about 20 minutes at a time.

Obviously I rebooted the xbox a few times and took out and cleaned the disc a number of times. I then tried starting from different saved games (both from my original play through and the new one). Yesterday I deleted everything from the hard drive, reloaded
the data disc and the updates but it's still the same. I had been playing straight from the disc, but earlier I saved the play disc to the HD also and tried running from that but it's still happening.

This doesn't happen when I play any other game.

Any got any ideas at all? and yes - I've checked a load of other similar "freezing ports" on this forum...

See I was confused on that as well. Multiplayer or pro tournaments? I have no experience on the latter. Doubt my 1.24 kdr is enough to go pro lol

 

Try uploading the play disc to a memory stick. Not sure if this will fix your problem but its worth a try.

 

I'd say try clearing your cache. If that doesn't work (on top of everything else you've tried) head over to the Rockstar Support site. Give the community end of the support or the 'knowledge base' a quick look through. If you can't find a solution open up
a ticket (submit a ticket). They will get back to you with a solution.

 

Yes I did. No where does it say he cleared everything. He stated he deleted everything, which doesn't entitle he cleared the cache. A lot of times a simple reboot fixes the problem (in this case it didn't). Other times clearing the cache solves it, but not
everyone knows about clearing the cache. Both of which will be the first thing anyone (with any knowledge) will tell you to do.

If the only game having the problem is GTAV, then it is Rockstar and not Microsoft. Either way, Rockstar's support unit will most likely have the solution seeing as they handle problems like this daily.

2020 - can you play the game directly off a memory stick? Will the transfer speeds be high enough? Or do you mean load the game onto the stick, then upload it from there to the HD and play it off the HD? I played it off the HD last night - played for probably
45 mins or so - then it hung again so had to switch the xbox off again...then played XCOM!

I believe early on it was suggested to play from a memory stick over the HD but I thought that issued was addressed.

@MP can you play fine from the disc or does that freeze as well or does it only freeze from the HD?

 

Weird. I know if I was having a problem I'd want someone who sounded like they new what they were talking about to help. I see you're reverting back to your 'attack everyone who disagrees with you' stage.

mpl911 have you download the compatibility packs for each update? You'll only be prompted to do so when you try to switch to online mode. Maybe give that a try as well.

 

Forgotten - the freezing happens when i play from the disc or from then HD.

Hi Grymm. Not completely sure. After I deleted everything "GTAV" from the HD, I then re-installed the data disc. Then it prompted me to insert the play disc, which i did. After that the game took me online to download an update (though sure it was only a
small one - 79Mb sticks in my mind...maybe that size?)

I did originally install all the updates for GTAV Online, but since i deleted everything, then re-installed it all again I haven't played the Online game as i didn't enjoy it.

Do you think i need to initiate the Online game to download some updates which would be relevant to the Story mode?

Nope - unfortunately that didn't help either. When i logged on last night there was another game update - 85Mb - which i downloaded. Then i switched to the Online game, and was prompted to download the "compatibility packs". i downloaded all 7 of them, ranging
from 3Mb to about 160Mb, and when that was done switched back to the Story mode. After about 30 minutes it froze again.

Any further ideas?

 

Might want to hit up Rockstar Support. Looks like you've done everything you can to our knowledge.

 

Hi. yeah - they suggested all the stuff I tried already plus clearing the game cache (RB + RB and X when the game is loading). Tried that and was able to play for an hour but then had to go do something else so turned it off...will test it further and let
you know if that clears it.
