Help Xbox App deleted my Starfield install and keeps trying to redownload the entire 120gb...

We understand that she is trying to install Starfield. Can we know if she still has problems installing it on SSD? There are games that need to be installed on C drive and if your C drive is on hard drive then this game could be one of those games.

However, we won't determine if it really should be on the C drive unless we're trying to troubleshoot installing games to the desired location.

First, here are the steps you need to follow to change the folder of your Xbox Games installation:

Go to PC Settings and select System.

On the left side, select Storage and scroll down to the options on the right side. The example drive for SSD is drive E.

Look for Change where new content is saved. This will take you to a drive selection and under Change, the new apps will be saved to: Select Drive E.

Launch the Xbox app and go to settings.

Search for general and under the Game Installation option, select Drive E.

Therefore, there is no need to change the folder as the default will be E:\XboxGames. If you want to change the name of XboxGames, you can select Change Folder.

Install Starfield and if the problem persists like it is still stuck, try reformatting your SSD to NTFS.

You can try installing another game and see if you have the same problem.

Sorry to hear it. Please try deleting then redownloading the game to see if that helps. If it does not then you may need to try a factory reset. There's an option to keep installed games and apps so you won't need to redownload them.

Because of xbox app is broken when you uninstall-reinstall the game or verify the game files, files are not uninstalling completely or not installing correctly. So first uninstall the game from xbox app then uninstall the xbox app. Reset microsoft store from settings>apps>advanced settings. Check documents/my games if there is starfield folder delete it. Install ccleaner for pc open disk analyzer on ccleaner and search for starfield, delete every file you see there. Restart. Reinstall the xbox app from microsoft store, then install starfield at one time without pause and you're good until next update...

When you restored the console did you keep games and apps? If so, try deleting the app then redownload it or delete the app, reset again then redownload it to see if it works.

Ok, I think I figured out the issue. I first pre-installed just the game titled "Starfield" last week. When I kept trying to pre-install that version it keeps failing. When I did a search in the XBOX app on my PC for Starfield, it showed all the editions and also the one titled "Starfield" that I was trying to install. When I looked at the "Starfield Standard Edition" it also showed pre-install now (I'm a gamepass premium subscriber) so I tried that one and it is installing now. So far no errors. The weird thing is when I go back and look at the one just titled Starfield and it also shows as downloading. I think that particular download link is broken.
