Help! Xbox App (Both the Beta and Latest Release) Xbox One will not stay connected to Xbox App.

I have Searched countless troubleshooting posts and sites and forums trying to problem solve and correct this issue to no avail.

I am writing this post as I am becoming extremely frustrated trying to solve a problem I've had since I first started using the Xbox app, and the SmartGlass app. for Windows 10 PC.

I have two computers that I have tried this on. My Desktop and my Laptop, Both are fairly decent computers bought ast year and recently updated from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. The Laptop had a serious error while updating to windows 10 causing instability
so it was returned under warranty and it was sent back with a fresh copy of Windows 10.

I have Both the Beta and the latest release of the Xbox App on two different computers. Along with the current version of SmartGlass. I definitely prefer Xbox App over SmartGlass.

I type to my friends a lot via Xbox messaging, and I play a lot of Warframe which has In game chat box, so it is imperative that I have a way to quickly type a message for In game chat as in order to chat in Warframe via the Chatbox you must go to
menu and type. This makes you vulnerable to enemy attacks which can cause a whole group wipe In game because I'm that awesome. My team relies on me. Of Course I am SURE all of you have typed messages using the analog stick with the Xbox controller and know
its no joke. It takes forever to type anything beyond a lol or wtf. So with that in mind hopefully you can understand how vital it is to have this application working properly. It is RUINING my xbox experience because of the constant disconnecting from console.

The Problem I am encountering is having to do with keeping my Xbox One Connected to the Xbox App for Windows 10 (Beta and current release)

Ill have my Xbox running a game. Warframe. Ill open my Xbox App, and it will sometimes automatically connect to my Xbox (Green dot on the Xbox connect button on side menu near the bottom) Sometimes I must go to the connect menu, and click the button
manually to connect to my Xbox One. Sometimes it will fail at this step as well, saying that it cannot connect. This is more rare it only happens once or twice an hour.

Ill be connected, and type a message using the feature that bring up a Chat box in the app when you type In game. (Show Keyboard when I'm typing on my console option under Settings>Xbox One) I have all of the relevant settings checked on my console
as well. It will disconnect sometimes as soon as I sent a message when I hit enter or the send button. Sometimes it will stay connected for an hour. Once it stayed connected for n 8 hour session!!!! Wow that was AMAZING! Sometimes it will disconnect halfway
through typing a message. My Console is hard wired, my laptop is usually WiFi, however I still encounter this issue while hard wired, and same as my desktop computer

Another problem I encounter is slow performance/locking up.

Sometimes I will be typing a message (6 out of 10 messages sent) and although I am typing via the xbox one appp on my computer, the letters/words do not appear for up to a full 2 minutes at times. Then it either slowly adds a letter at a time well
after I've finished typing, or it will suddenly input and send my entire paragraph after being locked up for several minutes. This shows both o Xbox App display and Console Display. Hitting send via Console will send the message even if its not finished lag
typing, though only the portion that showed up will be sent. If it is slowly lag typing, I can continue to add letters via the console and controller, while it continues to add letters that are lagging via the app.

My Computers are Virus/Malware/bloatware free, trust me. I Know better.

My Xbox is on the DMZ. I had this problem before it was on the DMZ, with all the proper ports forwarded and settings in place.

SmartGlass disconnects as well though I try to avoid it as I much prefer the Xbox One app for Windows 10.

I have a 150mbps cable internet connection. Solely used by myself unless my roommate is browsing Facebook or reading a blog. Rarely. Its not a bandwidth issue.

My WiFi connected computer is approx. 5 feet way from my 2.4g/5g Router. again. issue is present regardless of connection type.

Any Help would be VERY much appreciated, and whoever solves this issue for me will FOREVER be In my debt!!

I have dumped well over 10 thousand dollars into various Microsoft products and a little bug like this renders all of it useless. (Well not useless but severely annoying and troublesome!)

Hello! I'm having an issue with windows 10 and xbox streaming. I recently updated to windows 10 and have everything up to date. My Xbox One is also up to date. When I try to stream however, I get the error "We could not stream from your console. Try again
later."

I have tried rebooting my PC and Xbox One. I have checked for updates on both of them and the xbox app. I have also tried used the beta version of the xbox app.

Any help?

 

Update:

I Found an option to "Forget" The console, and then reconnect by ading it's IP address.

The app then stayed connected for several hours, longer than ever before. I THOUGHT i had found a fix.

Then after ceasing use of my Xbox and computer to go to the store for food, it no longer worked. I was gone for about 2 hours.

I tried all the steeps i did before. I rebooted everything. Computer, router, Xbox. I "Forgot the console" and entered its IP address again in the app, checking to make sure it was still the same through Xbox settings.

I rebooted while forgetting the console THEN entered the IP. Still nothing.

Now its connecting and immediately disconnecting, cant eve get a word in.

Please help me!

This COMPLETELY RUINS my Xbox experience This is so important to me to be able to play what i like to play. To do what i want to do on xbox. Whether it be talking on twitch, playing Warframe which has in-game text Chat Box. Surfing Youtube and typing for
videos without having to stream from my computer.

Its starting to become so frustrating im ready to trade in my Xbox for a Wii!!! lmao no. (No way i will EVERRRR Get a Playstation. I don't care HOW much they improved. NEVER!!!11)

Hey Tim! Thanks so much for letting us know this is going on. I saw your bug come in earlier today when you submitted it, and we've been looking into it. We're doing all we can to improve everyone's experience with the app.

 

Thank you for replying to me, it calms my nerves and settles me down just in knowing that i am no longer alone in my woes, that someone over there is aware of my situation and looking into getting it fixed. If you don't mind me asking, is this something
that is a know problem? Are you getting reports o this happening to many, or even just few people? In other words, should i continue to spend 3+ hours per day going over settings and struggling to fix it on my end or is this a known issue on the end of Microsoft
Xbox? Can i relax and stop trying to fix it myself due to the fact that there is in reality nothing i can do to fix it because it's not my fault?

 

I wish I could provide you with more information, Zippo. I can tell you that I've routed it to the individual in charge of this feature and that they're looking into it. Keep checking the latest updates to the app and we'll keep doing all we can to make
things even better.

 

Hiya, try typing services in search, scroll to the 3 windows xbox services at the bottom of the page. Then changing them to start and automatic. This might work for you if not staying running..

I'm a bit late to this thread but I've been having the same issue. The Xbox app on Windows 10 is VERY laggy for me about 75% of the time and typing is often delayed 30-60 seconds between keystroke and display. Scrolling through my friends list or the activity
feed usually freezes up the app for a few seconds up to a full minute. I've found no consistency as to when I experience the problems; sometimes the app works smoothly but only for a very short period of time. I've tried both hardwired and wireless connections.

Hi Neta, Can you tell us what version of the app are you using? Are you also experiencing this issue with Xbox App (Beta)? If yes, please report this issue within the beta app by using "report a problem". This will provide helpful info to help the developers
investigate. You can DL the beta app here
www.microsoft.com/.../9NBLGGH1J27H or go to the Store app, search for “Xbox beta” and it will show up as a search result. Let us know what you experience. In the mean time I will go ahead and report this to the developers.

It looks like my version is 11.11.19012.00000. Note that the current version is listed as 8.8.15003.00000 on

support.xbox.com/.../verify-version-xbox-app-on-windows-10.

I'll report back once I have the beta installed tonight.

 

I had a few minutes to try out the beta version and it feels far smoother than the current app. I'll test it further later tonight and post my results, reporting specific problems (if any) through the beta app's feedback channel.
