Help with Xbox Identity Provider and Gaming Services not updating.

Hello to anyone who reads this. I've been having problems lately with my games on the Xbox App. I started playing Halo Infinite via Game Pass for PC but everytime I load the game it quits without warning or an error code. So I tried to see if the same thing happened to the other games I've installed through the Xbox App and it does. The games load and then 10 or 15 seconds later they shut down by themselves. The first time it happened was while I was playing multiplayer online in Halo Infinite since then the game just won't let me pass the first menu until it closes (same for the other games).
I was checking if I had all of my apps up to date in the Microsoft Store and so happens that the Xbox Identity Provider and Gaming Services are always requiring an update but whenever I click on the update button they install and then inmediatly go back to the "update" state, so they are not updating and I think that's the issue. I tried doing the PowerShell fix, didn't work. Tried reinstalling the Gaming Services, the Xbox App and every single thing I found online to no use cause the problem persists. PLEASE, HELP ME. I just wanna play my videogames without having issues.

Thank you, don't worry. I can suggest you other things to try:

A. Open task manager > select the startup tab > disable all the programs listed there temporarily

Restart the PC and try again

B. Do a clean boot in your PC and try again

C. Create a new local administrator user in your PC and try from there

D. If you are using an antivirus, firewall, proxy, VPN or similar app, please disable all the protections before trying again

E. Can be a bit odd but use a custom DNS address

Hello, I have the exact same issue, I have tried everything listed on this page and nothing solved my problem, the games keep crashing and the update loop is never ending

I have the same issue here, tried everything listed and even windows reset and reinstalled the apps from scratch, still nothing

Hi Josef, thanks for your reply.

I'll go through every thing you said in order.

My OS is Windows 10. I tried resetting the Gaming Services from the Apps and Features tab in Settings. I tried Resetting the Store also. Uninstalling both the Xbox App and Gaming Services. The PowerShell command "remove-AppxPackage -allusers" and also resetting the Store via the Win+R "WSReset.exe".

And I'm not in the Windows Gaming Program. But I downloaded the Insider Hub and it also happens to have the same Update Issue.

None of that has worked out so far. I also just tried the Services thing as you said above with no effect.

Is this happening on Windows 10 or 11?
Also tell me briefly what did you tried so far to fix this, in that way I can advise you different things or how to proceed

In the meantime, may I know if you’re joined in the Windows gaming program?
For this download and open the Insider Hub app in your PC

And also, double check this:

Press Windows button and type Services

On Services App from the list of results, press right-click and run it as administrator

Scroll to the bottom and find the following services:

IP Helper
Xbox Live Auth Manager
Xbox Live Game Save
Xbox Live Networking Service
Gaming Services

And do this with each of the services listed above:

Right-click over the service and select Properties.
Find the Startup type section and make sure it’s set to Automatic (if not, change it to automatic)
If the service isn’t started, click Start to start the services

Restart your PC and try again
