Help with removing old parental controls when I don’t have the email for the account

"Only organizers of a family group can remove family members.

Only the adult who granted consent can remove a child account from the family group. If the adult cannot access their account, the adult or appropriate guardian should attempt to recover the adult account.

If your account is of legal age, you can opt out of parental controls yourself through this website:

https://account.microsoft.com/family/home

If you do not know your account or that of your parents, it will be very difficult to do anything, especially if you mention that this goes back several years.

Dad told me that he might actually not have been using his live account for the parent control (like I told you earlier, he had not logged into the parent control for a long time) but his old email by another provider than Hotmail, because back then you
could use whatever email adress you wanted, so might that be the case? That the parent control is still bound to his old email adress and not to his live account as thought?

Are you going to be using the same email account when you swap to the child account?

A way around this is that you can change the age of the MS account to 10 years old, then add parental controls.

Had the same problem here's what I did:

-reactivate the old email account that was used for the parental controls

-change information on above email account including password so that you know it

-log into microsoft and recover account (instructions on recovery will be sent to the email account you just reactivated)

-after recovering microsoft parental account change password.

-use this new password with the reactivated email account for the parental controls

-after accepting the new terms you will b able to make changes to your live account including changing it to an adult account
