    Help with packet burst in Black Ops 6


    Looking for some guidance in diagnosing and troubleshooting my packet burst issue in this game.

    I feel this could be an interplay of both my hardware specs, network settings, or in-game settings.

    I had this issue quite a bit in Season 1 and resolved it by literally just plugging in an Ethernet cable. Unfortunately, after the Season 2 update it’s returned.

    The packet issue can be finicky, some games can feel good for the first 5 minutes or so, then a ton of stuttering that makes the game nearly unplayable.



    Here’s some additional context

    Specs:

    • Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus
    • AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core, 16-Thread
    • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
    • Running Windows 10 and the newest NVIDIA driver

    Internet Speedtest Results:

    • Download – 301.79 mbps
    • Upload – 192.78 mbps

    • Latency – 22 ms
    • Packet Loss – 0%
    • GPU – 62°
    • GPU Time – 11 ms
    • GPU Clock – 1950 mhz

    • CPU Time – 11 ms

    In-game Settings:

    • Display Mode – Fullscreen Borderless
    • NVIDIA Low Latency Mode – On
    • V-Sync Gameplay – Off
    • Custom Frame Rate Limit – 140
    • Upscaling / Sharpening – Off
    • AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation – Off
    • VRAM Scale Target – 70
    • Variable Rate Shading – Off
    • Textures/Shaders – Very Low or Minimal
    • On Demand Texture Streaming – Minimal
    • Allocated Texture Cache Size – 16
    • Download Limits – On
    • Daily Download Limit – 1



    Have attempted a lot of changes for improvements – no luck so far:

    • Factory reset router
    • Added Call of Duty ports
    • Lowered security settings on windows firewall and on my network
    • Tweaked in-game settings
    • Disabled ‘full screen optimization’ in Steam
    • Modified threads/cores in Steam
    • Disabled Nvidia and Discord overlays
    • Updated Realtek PCIE Network driver
    • Disabled Ethernet properties settings: energy efficiency, gigabit lite, green ethernet, interrupt moderation, jumbo frame, large send offload IPv4, power saving mode
    • Updated and rolling back on different Nvidia drivers
    • Clearing my shader cache from the game files
    • Uninstalling and reinstalling the game

    Why do I have to test my connection almost everytime I sign in?

    I've rented black ops (not sure where my MW2 ran off to sadly) put in reach and it says it is open, packet loss rate is Low/excellent but has a warning on my upstream bandwidth

    does that help?

    Such a shame, black ops was my favorite FPS in around 20 years of gaming. With DUKE3D a close second :)

    Game speed

    Set the matchmaking settings in black ops to local only and see if it helps.

    also do a speed test and ping test on your line from speedtest.net, if you have any packets loss on your ping test then you may have a fault on your line.
