help with my resolution and refresh rate on Xbox series x

Hi Alvaro,

My setup hasn’t changed and I am using a 2.1HDMI cable so it’s pretty strange.

I’m getting options for 1440p but when I select that it kicks me down to 60Hz refresh rate and vice Versa

Any help on how to resolve this is appreciated

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues using 1440p 120Hz on your monitor. When you mentioned that it previously worked, is it while using the same setup or you changed something such as your HDMI cable?

Press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then select Profile & system > Settings > General > TV & display options. What are the available resolutions that you have?

Hi I'm just another gamer on Xbox Series X. I have a 55" Samsung QLED model QN55Q70AAFXZA and I must say it is amazing. Alexa and voice commands built in (though I have that turned off). I was urged to not mess with the picture settings to much as the TV is more than a smart TV. I just chose "Game Mode" and left it at that. I have access to the internal graphics settings but one must study up on what the "Lighting" language actually translates into. My model will automatically use the highest refresh rate need for the game mode. I messed with it a bit when I bought, set it back to default and just picked "Game Mode". Back lighting and Brightness can be deceiving in terminology. Samsung also suggest we register our products with them by signing up for an account with them. You'll be glad you did. Sincerely

If you want to use 120fps with an HDMI 2.0 monitor you need to set the resolution to 1080p
If you set the resolution above that, the 120hz refresh rate is not going to appear.

"4K gaming at 120 frames per second is available if you have ALL of the following:
An Xbox Series X console
An Ultra High Speed HDMI cable that supports HDMI 2.1
A TV that supports HDMI 2.1"
