Help with gamertag change bug

This is my first time posting here and i am sorry for such a long post but i wanted to make sure i explained everything.

How do i take an issue further than live chat? They don’t seem to be able to help me with my specific issue.

i noticed a few people on my friends list had changed over to the new gamertags with the suffix so i decided to see what the new system was like so i went to my profile and pressed on my gamertag and was met with the usual box that allows you to type in
your desired gamertag before you check its availability. I proceeded to type my first name into the box and then i pressed check availability only to have what i assumed was the next screen flash quickly on my screen to the point where i couldn’t make out
what it was exactly and then i was locked into a grey loading screen with the usual white rotating swirl which i waited on for around ten minutes until i hard reset my xbox. Once i had done the hard reset and turned the console back on i signed into my account
only to be met with a new name (e.g Firstname#1234) that i didn’t agree to and no way to get back to my old name because it is over 12 characters so i can no longer just pay to change it back. I was not charged for this name change but that doesn’t make it
any better.

support live chat told me that they didn’t have the tools to change it back and that the issue is irreversible from their end so my next idea was to log onto my old 360 and pay to change my name back but unfortunately all that did was add an extra gamertag
to my profile which now basically has three names on it (real name, firstname#1234 and the 360 name).

is there any way for me to be able to take this further to try and at least get my GT back because i am not at fault here at all, curiosity got the best of my and i got sucked into some sort of bug.
