Help with Digital Rights Management

I was wondering if someone can help with an issue I'm having with DRM and an Xbox 360 console I recently bought.

Our old Xbox 360 was showing the Red Ring of Death and I decided to buy a second hand console on eBay.

The new console is working fine, and I've used a transfer cable to transfer hard drive contents from the old console's hard drive.

The issue I am having is with Marvel versus Capcom 2.

The game has transferred from the old hard drive to the new hard drive, however on the main menu the game displays a message asking you to unlock the full version.

As the game is no longer available on the Xbox 360 store, trying to do this on the new console displays an error message. There are a couple of things I've tried in order to resolve this -

1) Used the License Transfer option on the new Xbox 360 console.

2) Tried to use the Xbox 360 purchase history online as described here: /r/xbox360/comments/5i29ib/transferring_a_removed_game_mvc2/

As of two years ago this method was working, but the Xbox 360 purchase history no longer works online so this option didn't work.

The issue I have is that I have the game on the new console's hard drive but I can't unlock the full game, and this is why I was going to ask about DRM on 360 consoles.

1) Is the license for my copy of Marvel versus Capcom 2 linked to my old console?

2) Are licenses stored somewhere other than a console's hard drive? If I've transferred everything over from the old console to the new console how does the new console know not to let me have access to the
full game, if I'm signed in to the profile I used to purchase the game and also used the License Transfer option in the Xbox 360 Account menu?

My last question is about a solution, and if it might work -

If I get the old console repaired, and transfer Marvel versus Capcom 2 back to the hard drive of the old console, would I be able to play Marvel versus Capcom 2 on the old console? Would the old console recognise
that I have the right to play the full version of the game even though I've used the License Transfer option on the new console to transfer licenses over, and also used the transfer cable to transfer everything over to the new Xbox 360?

If you did a license transfer then the license would no longer be connect to the old console. Instead of using the purchase history online, use the purchase history on the console itself to redownload the game/license to your new console.

Press the Guide button on your controller.
Select Xbox Home.
Select settings.
Select Account.
Select Download History.
Select the content you want, and then select Download Again.

Licenses are tied to the account that purchased the content as well as the console it was downloaded on. It's not tied to the hard drive.

You need to do a license transfer. To do this, goto settings - account - license transfer, then follow the instructions from there. Once you have done that, then you will need to re-download the games to the console, this wont take long, as you already
have them on the console (this is for the licenses only). To download the games, you need to goto settings - account - download history, and select each downloaded content, and start the downloads. After you have done that, then you should be able to play
your games.

Thanks for the reply! My main issue at the moment is the inability to re-download the game as it's not showing up on download history when I check it on the new console.
