  1. [Help] Wireless Xbox 360 Controller Receiver Not Detected By Windows 10 & No Green Light????

I have been using a Wireless Xbox 360 Controller Receiver For Windows for years on my desktop pc which has has Windows 10 (64bit). Works great.

I about to go on a trip and wanted to use the receiver with my laptop which is also running Windows 10 (64bit). When I plug in the receiver into the powered USB 3.0 slot on my laptop, nothing happens. The receiver is not detected at all, not even as an unknown device, and the green light on the receiver does not turn on. I have plugged other devices into this same usb slot and they work fine and draw power. I have unplugged and plugged it in again. Update windows and rebooted. I feel like I have done all of the basic troubleshooting stuff at this point.

I have found many video and posts about fixing drivers for an unrecognized device. To be clear I am not even to that point yet. The laptop simply does not detect that the receiver is plugged in. The receiver works fine on the desktop with the same Windows and all of the other USB devices that I plug into laptop seem to work fine except the receiver.

Any assistance anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

    :)

For whatever reason the laptop now has the option for Adding Legacy Hardware, but has the same issue as the desktop with no driver showing.

Oh yea, you'll need to download and install the drivers from the web. It used to be on the Microsoft Store but it was removed. So you'll have to find it and install it to go ahead.

[Help] Wireless Xbox 360 Controller Receiver Not Detected By Windows 10 & No Green Light????

Update.....Now the Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver will not work on the desktop or the laptop. Perhaps it is broken, but it was working when I disconnected it from the desktop.

On the desktop, I get a Code 45...not connect for the device when I show hidden devices in the Device Manager. When I try to Add Legacy Hardware as suggested, I can drill down to the Xbox Peripherials, but there are no drivers listed only the option to install from disk. The driver that I can see when looking under the Device Manager is "Xbox Wireless Receiver for Windows Version: 10.0.19041.1 [12/6/2019]".

On the laptop, there is no option to Add Legacy Hardware under Action for the Device Manager.

    Hello AveryPitt1996

Please check if the latest device driver is installed or not. In order to do that, follow the simple guidelines resumed below:

Step 1. From the main home screen, press "Window + R" to open up the "Run" dialog box. Type "devmgmt.msc" in the search field, and hit "Enter". This will instantly open up the "Device Manager" windows on screen. You can also type "devmgmt.msc" in the search box if you are using Windows 8, and the search result will definitely redirect you to the Device Manager Page.

Step 2. Now from the list of several devices, locate the entry for XBOX 360 peripherals.

Step 3. Click on the (+) icon to show the peripheral devices that are attached to the computer for the XBOX 360.

Step 4. Double-click on "Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows" and the properly dialog box of the Wireless Receiver will turn up.

Step 5. Check if the "Device Status" area of the dialog box is showing the following text- This device is working properly.

Step 6. If the mentioned status is not shown on the dialog box, then check if the appropriate software is installed correctly.
