    Help Solve The Mystery Of Slow Xbox Live Downloads


    Relevant Technology Stack:

    Comcast/Xfinity Gigabit service
    Rebooted Router, Modem and Xbox during incident
    Service speed verified during incident using multiple speed test sites.

    Xbox One X in Alpha Ring
    Xbox One X is on hardwired Ethernet
    Xbox One X was the only device on the network actively using the network/internet, except when indicated during testing.
    Incident reported through "Report a problem" in dashboard

    Report Submission Details:
    I actually submitted it twice because I forgot to write down the details to relay here the first time.
    Category: System & Settings
    Sub-category: Network Settings and Issues
    Summary: Insanely slow game updates
    Submissions were close together, with the last one at 5:13am ET on 07/23/2020.

    Problem:
    For some reason my Xbox One X has lately been getting abysmal download speeds when trying to update or install games. Tonight I hit a new low of 2.95 Kbps downloading the 618.49MB Fortnite update.

    How I've Investigated:
    My initial thought was that my Internet connection in general was just suffering. I ran speed tests from my PC from multiple sites and confirmed the connection was running at speed. Other web sites, 4k video streaming from Netflix, Amazon, Vudu and Disney+ and large downloads from the Microsoft website and other places are running at good/expected speeds.

    I then ran Microsoft Edge on the Xbox One X itself and executed a speed test at /u/Agnt86

    Hello Knight,

    Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you are having slow speeds while downloading. We recommend trying the guide for
    slow game or app installation. As to explain
    how or why some download faster is the mystery no one is able to explain. As game updates do not come from the Xbox servers but the game servers themselves. Personally has happened to me also where kids on Wifi download faster than I do on a wired connection.

    the same thing happened to me... i collected all 50 letter scraps and drove to the ( green ? ) as Franklin and watched the cut-scene and he ran off to his SUV and then i shot my RPG at the SUV , it said that I completed the mission but no achievement popped
    up after that.... idk whats going on? what did i do wrong? just looking for those letter scraps took me an Hour and all that hard work but no A Mystery, Solved Achievement unlocked .
