Nothing has changed with the Xbox One system since launch. If you update now you'll get a new dashboard and you'll be able buy digital games. As long as you set your console as your Home machine, you can buy digital games and play them offline without
connecting to Xbox Live again. There is no requirement to be online all the time.

No. Your Xbox 360 games will not work in your Xbox One.

There are new and special releases of xbox 360 games through Xbox Live/One that can be played on both Xbox 360 and xbox one.

But note that these are re-manufactured to be able to do so and you would have to purchase them or get them through xbox live.

Therefore, if you wish to continue playing your old 360 games (and the special release of it has not been made available through xbox live for repurchase), you will need to keep both systems.

1. Xbox 360 game discs can be used in Xbox One however the console needs to be online as it must download the backwards compatible version of the game. Please note the game disc is still required after downloading the game unless the game was purchased through
the marketplace.

2. With backwards compatibility Xbox One will run and Xbox 360 game along with an additional piece of software that (Emulates) the Xbox 360 on the Xbox One

3. Providing the Xbox 360 games you are wishing to play can also be played on Xbox One via backwards compatibility then there is no need for both consoles
