  1. Help for a Japanese Xbox 360 (2006 model) - step down transformer, power supply, etc. etc.

Hello, I'm Alex (Alessandro) from Italy.

1 month ago I bought an used Japanese Xbox 360 (mint condition) from a Japanese Ebay seller (100% positive feedbacks). This console is only 100-110v (in Italy We have 220-240v) so I need a voltage transformer for a NTSC-J (Japanese) Xbox 360 with the following specifications (written on console power supply):

    Input AC: 100-127v 4.7A, 47-63 Hz Output DC: 175 watts 12v=14.2 A (14.2A), 5Vsb=1A

Unfortunately, I come from a bad experience with another transformer (Well - Voltage Transformer 220 V > 110 V, 1000 VA, 2 outputs): it worked fine for 3 days (daily use no more than 3 continuous hours), then no more causing an irreparable damage to the original power supply of the console, a power supply that I will have to replace.

I turned on the transformer, then the console, and within 5 seconds Xbox 360 power supply was KO: it no longer turns on and I smell something burning inside the power supply (near the connection of power line cable).

I only hope that the fuse inside Xbox 360 power supply saved the integrity of my Japanese console: unfortunately I'm not able to verify that except by changing the power supply and transformer.

In your opinion, what exactly happened: why was I able to play and complete Batman Arkham Asylum (NTSC-J version) without issues by playing just 3 hours per day? will my console still work?

This was my old step down power transformer

    Well - Trasformatore di tensione 220 V > 110 V, 1000 VA, 2 uscite : Amazon.it: Fai da te

This would be my new transformer

    VEVOR Convertitore di Tensione Step Up/Down Portatile 110V-220V / 220V-110V Potenza da 500VA, Trasformatore di Tensione 500VA Portatile 240 x 185 x 200 mm 2 Spine, Convertitore di Tensione 500V USB 5V : Amazon.it: Fai da te

Is it ok? will its fuse able to protect my new xbox 360 power supply from power surges or overloads?

Thank you for help and support.

why did the power supply fail even though all connections were correct?

    will my console still work?

Could you answer these questions, please?

You don't need a step down transformer this are only recommended for high temperature products likenhair dryer or cookers or fryers

You can buy an appropriate plug for your region from any pawn shop or eBay if you got it from a seller ask him for recommendations or possible links to a seller

My japanese console is the first FAT model (I think 2006).

If I understand you correctly, I can use another original Xbox 360 power supply (I also have a 2006 Xbox 360/ PAL) on my Japanese Xbox 360, I don't need a step down 220-110 transformer and I can directly connect xbox 360 power supply to the power socket (220-240 volt) without the need for any filter or protection...

I admit I have a terrible fear of doing what you suggested
