Help changing the parental setting on xbox 1 - but not longer know the password for old...

Thanks for reaching out. I understand there is an issue with a Microsoft Account. I recommend to try the following troubleshooting article:
Recover and reset your lost Microsoft account
password.

I suggest when you get to the portion "Where should we send the code." Click on I don't have access to any of these, and proceed with the
Account Recovery Form.

Try this out and let us know the results.

Ok Biophetik, It is possible to change the parental account tied to the child account on the XBOX itself, but if the child account needs some information on the security side or if the parental (existing one) is not known there are a few extra steps that
need to be done. When you go to sign into the childs account on xbox.com do you see a message on it saying the account is blocked or asking to sign terms of use? If you don't see that message, I would still go to accounts.live.com with the child account email
and password and make sure the security info is up to date and verified. If you don't know the password for the existing parental account, you need to go to the same site and try to get the password reset so you can change parents for the child account. I
realize the account is no longer used, but you also may need to call support at 1-800-469-9269 to see if they can remove a suspension for billing off the old parent so it can be managed online. Just because it is no longer used does not mean it is still not
considered active on the Microsoft side. The billing issue is probably the biggest problem and support will be asking for some information on that account so get with the other parent to make sure you know what information was used for it in order that the
support team can help. Let us know what you see and how things go and we will continue to guide you through with.

can anybody direct me to where i can change my parental account because i can not get on xbox live and i dont know their password and are no longer around??

If your Xbox Live account is under parental control and you want to identify the parent Microsoft account, follow these steps on your console:

1. Sign in using your Xbox Live-enabled gamertag.
2. From the dashboard, go to settings and select Online Safety.
3. Select an item to change and then select Save.
4. You are then prompted for your parent’s permission to make the change. The parent Microsoft account is displayed on the password entry screen.

I am still concerned that when the security settings are set to defaults it reverts back to the original password.

It also seems to be possible to change the parental controls without password prompting, I believe this is because there is a password to enter the live account at initial sign in and thereafter most settings can be changed - which is understandable - however,
I would like to be able to secure parental settings yet still provide access to the xbox so that games can be played or netflix can be viewed.

The same default password is in effect for the Netflix app and even though I have changed the main xbox live password (the 4 digit number using the control pad) the Netflix 4 digit password has remained the same. This means that if an 18 certificate film
is requested to be viewed when the prompt comes up the old known password can be used.

Will Netflix update to the new password?
