Hello why every time my Xbox has an update on Fortnite it reinstall the whole game instead...

This has also happened to me some too, when the game goes to update it reinstalls the whole game. Only thing I can think is why they do this is the update is throughout the game instead of just certain parts. So instead it just installs the complete thing.
For example Fallout 76 said needed update soon as I started the update, it then proceeded to install full game.

Hello Joey,

That may be normal, with some updates if it involves multiple aspects of the game it will reinstall the complete game. For example, if the story has multiple updates throughout it is easier to just reinstall it with updated version than enter all the updates.
Personally had this happen with fallout 76 instead of installing the update it installed the complete game again. Happened two times with the update for fallout.

Sorry for the issue with updating Fortnite. Have you made sure you have enough space. Yesterday an update came out that was 4.6 GB for the game. If you do try testing your network and multiplayer connections in network settings. If they are both good then
try to update the game again. If it fails again we recommend to uninstall the whole game then reinstall the game.

Sorry i shouldve included more info. Console has always been kept up to date. Ive tried deleting the game myself and reinstalling, hard resets, unplugging for a day, reinstalling my profile, buying a different copy of COD, hardwired and wireless connections,
and 2 hours with xbox support. I dont know why but the updates just dont recognize the game is installed and reinstall it every time.

Thats fair, its annoying because it seems like only my xbox, when these big updates happen, instead of just downloading the update, re downloads every file. For examole the latest Balder gate patch should only be 20gb max, im downloading the whole 138 gb again. I understand some patches being big but xbox is the only one that doesnt just download a patch but the entire game.

It happens every time a game updates.

I started downloading this patch at 130 pm. Its now 925 pm and only progressed 98 gb. So likely wont be playing BG3 this weekend at all.

I cant play any popular multiplayer game like fortnite, cod etc because every "update" is really just downloading the entire game again. Id be happy to download 20 gb but not 100 or 200gb plus in cods case.

Is there a way to stop xbox downloading a whole game to update because that does seem exlusive to xbox.
