.heic images not working in Photo app on Xbox series X, what can be done?

Hello,

What can be done on Xbox series X so it can show .heic images?

I have Samsung Galaxy S20 phone and using .heic files for my photos. They are auto uploaded to my personal OneDrive using OneDrive Android app and camera auto upload feature. On Windows 10 and Windows 11 I do have HEIF support - Get HEIF Image Extensions - Microsoft Store

I installed the same app on Xbox series X for HEIF support, but still, Microsoft Photo app does not show .heic files/images from my OneDrive on Xbox device.

No error is shown, it is just simple that those files/images are not visible in Photo app, but .jpeg files are there and working.

I also tried various Xbox Insider builds, but it is the same as non-insider. Also support.xbox.com requested is not answering for weeks now.

I'm afraid the Series X doesn't currently have native support for .heic files. Hopefully one will be added in the future.

What troubleshooting steps have you done?

i think i already explained the steps i did it doesnt work like xbox companion

no the xbox app + xbox series x always worked as trash if compare with xbox one x + xbox companion

i already detailed everything in original post, it looks like the encoder of xbox app/xbox series x isnt good as xbox companion/xbox one x

I'm sorry. I am a bit confused by your question. I am using the Xbox App to stream from my Xbox Series X through the Xbox App to my PC using the function in the App that I have circled here.

I've done this without issue with an Xbox One, with the old Console Companion App, and for a short time with the Xbox Series X before the freezing issues began.

As some additional information, I use my monitor both for my PC and for my Series X so both machines are plugged into the monitor. Could the freezing issues be caused by using a monitor hooked up to my PC to stream the Series X but the Series X is also hooked up to the monitor already?

Hi Tomm, Thank you for the response.

The webcam is working on my Xbox Series S, and I am using the it for streaming not for taking photos.

I can access the camera positioning setting on the xbox but there is no option in flip the camera to mirror image.

Normally a Minecraft skin file is 16x16, and can go up to 32x32 on Bedrock edition. If the image is the in the correct dimensions, you could try using something other than the default photo manager.

Many photos on iOS will be compressed in the default photo library, and can stop the skin from working in-game. You could try using a different app for photos, or use the files app instead. If Minecraft doesn't let you import the skin directly from the files app, try sharing it and saving it to photos, then import it as soon as possible.

If you're on Windows, then the only possible issue you could be having is incorrect image dimensions or a wrong file format.

If you're on Android, then like Tadeu said, try using a different app for importing the skin.
