Hear the xbox fan

Please refrain from creating duplicate threads. As mentioned in your previous thread it is normal to hear the fan when you're close to the console.

Silent is a relative term, and when you're playing games the fan speed will increase due to additional load

The Xbox One is pretty silent, but it also has fans. If you listen pretty closely you can for sure hear them. If you hear them across the room, that is a bit abnormal. That by no means it's broken or there is something wrong with your console, but it just
means that there is a noisy fan. My suggestion would be to try to get some compressed air, and blow out some of the visible fans. Sometimes if the fan is a bit dusty you can hear it moving a bit.

I checked the resolution. It was set to UHD. If the series S can’t push that resolution why is it an option.

re: the fan, the grill is hot but there is no fan noise or noticeable airflow. For reference when my laptop fan turns on I can hear it and feel it. For this Xbox, there is nothing. I can put my ear right up to it. No fan noise at all. I do t have a reference as I have never used a different Xbox s but I am also thinking the fan is not functional. For those that have an Xbox s - can you hear the fan when it’s functioning normally?

This will not be a problem. You may find that it increases speed and gets more noticeable when games are being installed or larger games are being played that require more power such as games like Red Dead Redemption 2.

It will only be a problem if the console is powering down due to overheating.
