Headset Troubleshooting Help!

Have you tried turning the volume up on the headset itself while its plugged into the Xbox One. It should default to a volume level you can hear, but it's worth a shot in my opinion.

• Have you
  updated
  your controller’s softwareto support the Stereo Headset ?
  
• Make sure your controller has fresh batteries. When the batteries get weak, some controller functions, such as audio
  and rumble, are turned off to conserve the remaining power.
  
• Try your Headset on another controller, if you can. If the headset works on the second controller, try
  updating
  the first controlleragain. If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the
  Xbox Online Service Center.

Thanks for reaching out to us here on the forums with this situation. I understand you're having issues with a headset not being detected. I recommend you test the headset out on another device such as a cellphone. If it is working on that then I suggest
you try turning the console off and unplugging it from the power. Let it rest a minute or two but when you are going to power it up try taking the batteries out of the controller and plugging it in with a USB cable to the console. Have the headset connected.
Use the wired in controller to power up the console and see if it is now detecting the headset. Let us know with a reply how it goes.

Thanks for the quick response, i checked the headset and it works fine on my laptop and cell phone. I followed your procedures with no luck, interestingly wnough when i click on my name in the upper left and go to the settings tab audio will show up and
disappear, like it may be the controller? Though ive never owned or used a headset with it before so not sure why as the controllers in near mint condition.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.
