Headset not working

my Xbox one s controller that has a 3.5 mm jack does not work no matter what I do pls help

Thanks for the link xenomorph. After i followed it my headsets mute light started to flash. its still not working, but at least its doing something. I will probably give microsoft support a call and see what they tell me. Thanks again for the help.

 

My 11yo son's controller (that he got for Christmas) stopped working with his headset. We blamed the headset, so he bought a new one. This one worked fine for maybe a week, then it started having problems. We blamed the controller audio port since he
was able to use his headset with the controller that came with the new Xbox One S we bought. But barely a week or so later that one stopped working. The headset works fine on a laptop or on the PS4, but not on these controllers.

If you search in Google you can find many forums with people complaining about this exact problem. They've even gotten replacements from Microsoft only to have those go bad as well. Some YouTube videos try to help resolve the problem as a settings issue,
but none of them work for us.

Either the audio port on these controllers is extremely fragile and can't bear something being plugged and unplugged, or the system has some issue that stops recognizing headsets plugged into the audio jack (even a simple cell phone in-ear headset doesn't
work). Either way it's a huge disappointment to me that the quality of either the accessory or the system is so poor that this happens.

My son uses the headset for Fortnite so that he's not bothering anyone with his Team Chat (and the One S doesn't have a Kinect for mic usage).

Would love to get some response from MS on this. More than just "return the controller for a new one", which others have proven is just a fruitless band-aid.

 

Same issue here. Only partial game audio comes through...usually only my surroundings not myself. In PUBG I can hear others walking, faintly, but not myself. Same when driving a car in PUBG

 

Same here. After hours we cannot get headsets to work. The volumes option is greyed out. We have been through every setting and nothing helps. I have 2 controllers and it is the same on both. My son just spent his pocket money on a new headset and is distraught
he can't talk to his friends. It's the 4th headset we have!
