Headset not recognized

My son has been using turtle beach headphones since we bought them on 20th October 2017. And so far they havent missed a beat. Thursday last week, he plugged in his headset into his contoller, and he says he normally hears a sound.......but on this day
he didnt. We can use the headset on the laptop, mobile phone, and ipad - and they work perfectly. We have tried a number of different suggestions from the internet - but nothing has worked. The xbox doesnt even recognie that they are plugged in. The home
screen shows the time and controller battery power, and beside that is a microphone pic with a circle and cross through it.

When we use different headphones, they dont work either.

Headset microphone not recognized.. help?

I was having this problem and at one point I just pounded on the volume up about 20 times and everything started working. spent hours plugging and unplugging the headset.... not sure why it works now but i'll take it.

I'm getting this same issue on my Astro A50 Gen 3 headset. I think an update Xbox pushed out broke something. I am able to party chat with anyone who joins my party. I am not able to chat in a game lobby or game.

It only works on the USB port, the P2 port does not recognize?

It recognizes the headset, but I've just had to unplug and plug back in the usb into the Xbox for it to assign the headset again.

Let us know what you found. I posted my similar problem recently.

Try turning the controller off and back on to see if it recognizes the headset. The mute icon will disappear and a headset icon will take its place if it is recognized.

Hi, similar problem here. I have 2 controllers ( 1708, genuine modelMicrosoft, but bought at different time, actually the inside label is slightly different). Since the last Xbox One update (07/21), one of the controller recognize the headsets (I have
3 different headsets) and work normally. It recognize the headset, provides me with on screen volume... On the other remote, no headset work. None at all. Not recognize, no volume control, no sound, no mic. Both remotes have the latest firmware (3.1.1221.0)
and I plug my headsets directly in the 3.5mm jack. Help! This seem to be a software/firmware glitch.
