Headset Drops Sound, Online Play Only

Afternoon!

I chatted with a gamer earlier today and he gave me a fantastic test to further diagnose the problem I'm having.

HyperX Cloud Stinger Headset

Currently run through wired Elite controller, but issue persists when wireless and on other controllers

Headset drops sound for ~30 seconds at a time, five or six times in a ten minute match

Issue is only present in my house; this headset works fine elsewhere

Issue is present in all games played

I've isolated my setup so it's as far away from any possible interference as it can be. I even dropped my cellphone in a Faraday bag to see if that would help, and it didn't.

During my chat with the gamer earlier - Gerardo, he's awesome - he suggested I try playing offline. I sat for 45 minutes playing offline and didn't lose sound once.

So here I am again to ask the collective what I should do with this information. Online matches that are dependent on hearing what's going on without sound have driven me fully insane. (Granted, not a short drive, but here we are.)

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

Hello Anthony,

Sorry for the issue with the sound in headsets not working as it should. When you are in a party chat does it seem to be bothered, or is it game chat and party chat? You can try the

troubleshooting steps for chat headsets. Keep in mind the headset you have is also a third party so troubleshooting is limited.

I use the RIGS headset and I can play for 8 hours straight without the headset hurting or being uncomfortable. Also very durable if you are prone to dropping things like myself. Great sound quality. Wouldn't trade them for the world!

@ZWR63 -- The only problem with that, and what you (sometimes) experience playing online with the PS3, is that every chump then can go out and buy a cheap $5 headset and he sounds like he's eating his mic the whole game.

Check in the settings menu of the xbox that the sound settings have not be set so that the sound only plays through the headset, it may be set too mic only.

In order to get game sound through the headset, you will have to go to the console's audio settings, and set the game audio to be played through the headset as well.

Otherwise only chat sound will be played through the headset.

After setting up sound through the headset, you can also choose to have stereo sound, or Spatial 3D sound through Windows Sonic. Or if you have purchased the Dolby Atmos app (you can try it for free for 14 days), you can also use Dolby Atmos for headphones.
