Headset chat mixer grayed out

my chat mixer is grayed out and I do not know what to do now, I have tried to unplug and replug my headphones and that did not work, I have updated my controller but that did not work, and have gone to audio settings still that did not work, also I turned off my Xbox and that did not work. Now it has been one week since my chat mixer was grayed out and I came here to see if you can help me.

Hello Firon,

Sorry to hear you have been having problems with your microphone.

Try turning around the input. If you have an adapter, use that.

You can try a different headset or a different controller.

You can also see if your controller or console is due for an other update.

The next step will be for you to try and perform a power cycle to your console by pressing down the power button on your console for 10 seconds until you make sure it is off. After that please unplug the power cable and wait for 10-15 seconds, then plug it back and switch your console on.

Is your controller a first party MS controller, or a third party one?

Are you using any kind of headset adapter?

What kind of headset are you using? Just a regular wired headset plugged directly into the controller's 3.5mm socket?

Has it ever worked with this particular headset/controller combo?
