Headset automatically assigned

Have 1 afterglow wireless headset paired now every time I log into any profile on Xbox the audio works fine for a few moments then it says “headset assigned” and volume drops down a lot

No other headset will work

I’m assuming this is because it already assigned the wireless one? which isn’t even on

Is there a way to prevent it from automatically assigning itself

I'll recommend you do a power cycle to clear the system cache

- Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.

- Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 2 minutes.

- Plug the console power cable back in. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on and check if it's all good.

If that doesn't help, I'll suggest you try doing a factory reset keeping games and apps on your console. This will refresh the console and remove all potential bugs without deleting any game data.

- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

- Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

- Select Reset console.

- Choose Keep Games and Apps

Once that is done, you'll need to sign into the console using your Microsoft account credentials. That should automatically remove the headset and you should be able to connect a new one afterwards

I reassociated it. That went fine. Ut i noticed that under headset of the controller the headset is not assigned to the controller and i cant click it to assign it. It shows a headset but cant assign it.

Check settings. Volume turned up on xBox and headset? Is headset being assigned to your account?

Try connecting headset to controller first, and then powering on the controller. Ensure the controller is assigned to your profile

If it's on a seperate Quadrant, than yes, it will stay on.. But, if it is assigned to a specific controller quadrant, than it will turn off or lose sync with the controller..

Plus, if you insert a wired headset to a controller, that has a assigned wireless headset, the wireless headset disconnects...

yes, it registers that the headset is there, and I can hear audio through it. In games it even shows the little "mic" symbol next to my avatar or name, but when I talk it doesn't pick it up. How do I assign the headset to the profile? I have the controller
assigned, but I don't think I've assigned the headset.
