Headset Audio settings are grayed out

Hello! I have a Xbox One, 2 controllers and 2 headsets (both original, Microsoft products).

From one day to another, both headsets stop working - I can hear other players in my group, but they can't hear me.

I searched for support and found some tips about checking audio settings, and for my surprise, my audio settings are grayed out - I can't change anything. If you have any idea on how to solve it, please share! Thank you all!

    :)

Audio Issues After Reverting Controller Update

Alright. As I've already stated, a new headset doesn't change anything. The audio settings are completely grayed out as if I didn't have a headset plugged in. I managed to revert the firmware of my controller through my Surface laptop, but still no audio. Thanks for trying to help!

Hear voice chat through headphones - Series X

Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

My name is welcome to the community.

Hello Thrasher585, usually this type of configuration is in the options: Settings»Audio output and Volume»Auto-speaking audio, if it is marked in gray is because the headset is connected, disconnect the hedset and the HDMI audio output put in Headset Format and in the Headset Audio setting put Windows Sonic if you do not use Dolby Atmos etc.

Why is my voice chat to Game audio slider Grayed out On Xbox One

Hi there! This is Virginia O.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with your voice chat is grayed out.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Please check headset connection. If you're using a wired headset, plug it in slowly, ensuring you hear static as it connects, which can help the console recognize the device.

And then access the chat mixer. To do this, go to Settings > Volume & Audio Output > Headset Audio. The Headset Chat Mixer slider allows you to adjust the balance between game audio and voice chat. Make sure that it is not set too heavily towards voice chat.

Next is to make sure that your privacy settings are configured correctly, as they can affect communication with others. Configure it on this page: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=746875

Then reset headset audio options. In Settings > General > Volume & Audio Output > Headset Audio, you can reset the audio settings for your headset.

If the issue persist after performing the troubleshooting steps, kindly test it with a different headset to further isolate if the issue is with the headset itself.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

How to fix greyed out headset chat mixer

Some options appear grayed out if you are using an accessory that takes advantage of the audio mixer functionality or if you are using hardware where audio adjustments are made on the hardware itself (for example, a Chatpad or some third-party headsets).

Check if there is no accessory that is using the audio mixer function and that is why they appear grayed out.

Tell me from which device are you using the headphones? Depending on that, we can guide you through some possible solutions.

I hope everything is resolved, I will be attentive to your response.
