I really don't understand why this is happening but my headset audio is messed up its sort of foggy and some sounds are faded, people can barely hear me likewise I can barely hear them, my game audio is weird and youtube videos sound like the person talking is echoing out of a different room. I've tried everything audio settings, updating controllers, trying different controllers, messing with settings, nothing has worked. But what I don't understand is some sounds are fine and others I can hear but they sound weird like not normal. It happened yesterday in the morning it was fine then I fell asleep and went to practice but before we had a power outage and my xbox was on but even us having power outages before have not affected my xbox at all. I think the problem is how xbox updated the new home screen.

    :)

Hello Doo-, this is Manuela. I'm an Independent Advisor and community user like you, ready to assist with this.

    Not a Microsoft employee.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having some trouble with your audio when using headphones.
Based on your post description, I encourage testing with a different pair of headphones.

Let me know the results once you’re able to test.

However, in case the inconvenience persists. Please try downgrading your controller firmware by following the steps in this related support article or thread:

    FADED/MUFFLED HEADSET AUDIO

If you hadn’t mentioned the part about the two consoles having the same audio settings, but the two sound different, I would’ve said that maybe it’s the headset audio format. On a certain console update, the audio format was changed. It sounded really
strange, but I couldn’t figure out what it was, so I messed around with stuff, before eventually changing the headset format to “stereo uncompressed”. That fixed it. It sounded exactly like it did before the update changed it. So, I don’t know, maybe mess
with the headset audio format in the volume and audio output settings, see if that helps at all.

I did mess around with the different audio formats. Stereo uncompressed does sound slightly better but I can still tell the audio is distorted. I’ll keep messing with the settings though to see if something clicks

    audio messed up on headsets

Hi there! Let's work on this together.

Kindly check your headset settings from the console:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide and select Profile & system > Settings > General > Volume & audio output.
Under Headset audio, choose one of the options in the Headset format drop-down menu.
    ***Try each option there.

Don't forget to check for your controller firmware updates. Please also refer to your headset manual on how to update its firmware.

Party Chat - I can hear my freinds but they can't hear me - Kinect still works with party

It sounds like you have a faulty headset. One of the best things to do is try a replacement headset from a friend if they have one. My brother has had the same problem with his headset on his Xbox One. He usually has to unplug and plug it back in a few times
for it to work, it sounds like an audio driver is messed up. Have you tried updating your controller also? There are controller updates out that solves this problem.
