    I've been googling this but it constantly goes to links of issues of headsets not working. That isn't my issue.

    My issue is is it working when it is not supposed to.

    Mute issue

    Playing ESO

    When in group or area voice chat I tend to mute my mic at times so I'm not the annoying person that's constantly coughing or eating or just sniffling instead of getting a Kleenex like a person with manners.

    My issue is that my mic in use icon ( my xbox live name in the bottom right corner ) keeps popping up when my mic is muted. They say they don't hear me or any identifiable man made noises. Just quick white noise and then it stops.

    My headset is brand new and not low end pricing. It is Japanese made and came with Japanese instructions. I'll never be the person that thinks their new stuff can't be defective and overlook it so I leave that as an option.

    My question is if it is possible that my headset was made with poor quality insulation and that there is audio leak occurring in the lines on the downside of the mic on/off relay? Similar to audio issues if you run your R/C cables and remote wire next to
    your power line in car audio.

    Or is it possibly my controller that is at fault?

    At the time I make this post I'm certain that my controller is assigned to an account and is updated and works well as far as I know. However I could be mistaken.

    Any advice would be appreciated. It's just a small annoying mishap that is on its way to being a real pain.

    My headset is stuck on mute

    I'm glad I came across this! I have 2 Turtle Beach headsets and I was muting them a lot if I wasn't actively talking at the time. Now I think I might not mute them anymore!!

    Hearing players through my tv, but my headset is plugged in.

    If the headset is plugged in, you should hear sound through the headset. When you have the headset plugged in, click the mute button on the headset adapter. Does an orange light illuminate on the mute button when you press it? If not, you may not have the
    adapter inserted all the way in.

    Can you give me a bit more information about what you are experiencing? It sounds like your saying that your friends are hearing like a white noise when your mic is muted is that right?

    I am muted even though my settings are not on mute

    check your settings to verify that you are not muted, ask your friends to verify that they have not silenced you or fianlemte verify that your headset does not have a mute button activated

    The NATtype is : open

    the headset i have is turtle beach.

    The mute icon is on regardless of my controller being activated or not, when i activate the controller the icon is still present.

    Please check the audio settings. Maybe there are wrong options activated for the headset/audio settings. Maybe also a mute button on the headset? Another reason could be that not all network ports are open for xbox live services.

    This is not quite right. If you use a controller Passkey to log into your console, a mute icon will be seen until you activate (turn on) the controller.

    Most mute problems with a functioning controller can be resolved with a headset adapter and updating the controller firmware, as long as the headset is compatible.
