    HDR ON 1080P Gaming Monitor.......


    I have a 1080p 180hz 24" Gaming Monitor connected with Xbox Series S and on the console it says i can enable hdr and auto hdr but when i go on monitor the hdr status are grayed out.. Even though i enable hdr on console and enable 60hz... Does Xbox support hdr on 1080p? I have recently seen other people with Playstation 4 can use hdr on 1080p monitors. Any help would be appreciated......

    Yes, you can use the Xbox One S or X on 1080p with HDR!

    Now i never see a 1080p with HDR, but on monitors it suppose to work.

    HDR not working

    HDR is slected "ON" in the xbox settings. However on the monitor it shows it as being OFF. The game looks like it has no HDR either, as in the games compatiblity options it shows it has not ON.

    It is an HDMI 2.1 monitor capable of HDR.

    I have tried turning off the resolution "1440p" and selecting 1080p and 60hz only. I still not recieve HDR.
    What is the exact model number of your monitor?

    Thanks for the quick reply,

    As soon as I got the new monitor I changed to 4K since the old TV I used to run it on only supported 1080p,

    The monitor doesn't have HDR (it's not high end) so I don't have HDR enabled so it's probably not a HDR related issue

    I'll try turning it down to 1080p and see if it experience, many thanks

    No, this does not solve my issue. When I enable 4k (Mind you, my monitor does NOT support 4k res), it then upscales my res from 1080p to 4k and only then enables HDR on my monitor. Which in the end looks super terrible.

    This does not happen on PS4, on PS4 any HDR supported game opens on 1080p and works great, there is no need to upscale my res on PS4 to 4k. Why can the xbox not just support this too?

    The xbox has auto feature to best optimize the console with the monitor/tv. However as you explained you can edit those settings. If you have selected HDR to be on it should show items that have that ability. It could be the game doesn't support 1080p
    HDR and not necessarily the console.
