Based on the description, your query is related to the settings if you can get HDR with your current monitor that you will be using to connect to your Xbox console. Let us check and see on what we can do to help resolve your concern in a timely manner.

To use HDR on your Xbox Series X and your monitor, you need to make sure that both devices support HDR10 and have the necessary settings enabled. You can also check if your monitor has an HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 port, which is required for 4K resolution at 120Hz with RGB (4:4:4) chroma subsampling.



If your monitor supports HDR10 and has an HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 port, you can enable HDR on your Xbox Series X by following these steps:

• Connect your Xbox Series X to your monitor using a high-speed HDMI cable.
  
• Turn on your Xbox Series X and go to Settings > General > TV & display options.
  
• Under Video modes, make sure that Allow 4K, Allow HDR10, and Allow variable refresh rate are checked.
  
• Under Resolution, select 4K UHD.
  
• Under Refresh rate, select 120Hz.
  

You may also need to enable HDR on your monitor’s settings, depending on the model and brand. You can refer to your monitor’s manual or online support site for more details.

Select "8-bit" if your 4K display is not capable of HDR. HDR content will be displayed in 8-bit, non-HDR color.

Select "10-bit" if your 4K display is capable of HDR. Non-HDR content will be automatically displayed in 8-bit color.

8 and 10 bit color options have nothing to do with HDR...they are there so you can select the option that best matches your HDTV color resolution. Here's an external link to an article that you may find helpful and/or for more details:

A bit more info I found....

‘8-bit HDR’
Some manufacturers will label their televisions as HDR even if they only support 8-bit color. This is because there are 2 different specifications that can classify a TV as having HDR compatibility: contrast
and color depth.

Contrast is the specification we’re looking at here. Contrast is the difference between the blackest black a panel can produce and the whitest white. Technically, the more nits produced by a panel the whiter
is can be, so often times manufacturers will meet a certain contrast level and stick the ‘HDR’ sticker on their TV. While this is not going to look as good as something with a 10-bit panel, it will still look quite a bit better than your standard ‘non-HDR’
8-bit TV."
