Hdmi audio headset option

Under the "Volume & Audio Output" section of the settings you have three categories: 1. "Volume Options" which has "Chat mixer" and "Party chat output", 2. "Speaker Audio" which list the audio options I listed earlier and "Bitstream format" which can't be selected as Bitstream isn't supported with my current setup. And finally 3. "Headset Audio" which gives various headset audio software options by the look of it and a box you can check or uncheck if you're using a HDMI audio headset. No optical or HDMI on/off options.

Shouldn't have any effect on the audio coming from the chat adapter. The available audio settings should only effect the HDMI audio and optical out audio.

In game audio options will effect the audio quality of headsets or headphone using the chat adapter as the audio source though.

The Xbox One is compatible with the Turtle Beach headsets... in stereo sound. The only option for surround on the XO through the optical audio is DTS surround which isn't supported by my XP-500 or any Turtle Beach headset for that matter.

You can select regular Dolby Digital on the HDMI audio options though... Weird.

Hello Thrasher585, usually this type of configuration is in the options: Settings»Audio output and Volume»Auto-speaking audio, if it is marked in gray is because the headset is connected, disconnect the hedset and the HDMI audio output put in Headset Format and in the Headset Audio setting put Windows Sonic if you do not use Dolby Atmos etc.

FYI, on my original Xbox one
when I plug in a headset into the controller the audio is redirected from the TV/HDMI to Headset and then when unplugged the audio is returned to the TV/HDMI.
