  1. HDMI 2.1 to Displayport

    Hi,

I have a question for the upcoming series x. As I am about to buy a new tv/monitor as well and I don't want to spend over 1500€ on an oled tv, I have searched for a gaming monitor. I found the Philips Momentum 43" with Displayport 1.4 and HDMI 2.0. As the
series x doesn't have Displayport but only HDMI 2.1, I wanted to ask, if there are any quality losses when connecting from HDMI 2.1 to the Displayport 1.4 (via adapter e.g.)? Or if this is even possible...

If not possible or recommended: do any of you know some monitors or tvs (at least 43") with hdmi 2.1? When I google it, I only find "HDMI" on the product sheet, but not which version of it...

    Thanks a lot!

    :)

    HDMI 2.1 to DP 1.4

There's no HDMI 2.1 to Displayport 1.4 adaptors available as of yet,

There are Displayport 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 adaptors available, but the signal only goes one direction and the Series X does not have a Displayport,

also with adaptor you run the risk of getting higher latency input, lower refresh rate, poor image quality,

for a clean bandwidth signal, it's best to connect straight HDMI to HDMI or Displayport to Displayport.

xbox series s cant display 1440p@120hz on monitor that can display 1440p@180hz

Thank you so much for your response. Just to confirm, are you using an HDMI 2.1 cable? You will also want to check if your monitor supports HDMI 2.1 cables.

As for the HDMI to DisplayPort cable, it likely won’t work for this case. Xbox consoles don’t natively support DisplayPort, and using an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter might not give you the results you're hoping for. The best option would be to stick with HDMI 2.1 for compatibility with your monitor.

    Strong aliasing Xbox Series X

I'm not sure if the DisplayPort is the issue here. It is very good and has pretty much the same specs as the HDMI 2.1, but it has a bandwidth of 32,4 Gbps vs 48Gbps of HDMI 2.1.

Does your monitor has a output HDMI port so you can test connecting your console by HDMI instead of DisplayPort?

The UK price comes in at £1099, it's the cheapest 4K OLED with HDMI 2.1 i could find,

Might be worth a look to see if this is what you're after and if it's available where you are?,

I myself was hoping that the Series X would have had included a Displayport 1.4, as i hear more and more people are adopting Gaming Monitors over TV's for console gaming.
