Whilst HBO Max is available in Romania, it seems the HBO Max App is not:

Strange as it should be available:

"HBO Max will be available on leading devices and platforms, including smart TVs (Samsung, LG and Android TV™), via streaming devices (Apple TV 4K and Google Chromecast™), game consoles (PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S) mobile and tablets (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android™), and online at http://www.hbomax.com. HBO Max will also be available through selected TV distribution partners."

It was supposed to be released on 8th March.

However, I have seen people unable to find the app via a PS4 so maybe the app release has been delayed/scheduled for later?

Here are a few steps you can try that usually help with this kind of problem:

1. Fully quit and restart HBO Max

Press the Xbox button

Highlight the HBO Max app

Press the Menu button (three lines)

Choose "Quit"

Then, relaunch the app and try again. This clears any temporary glitches from the current session.

2. Clear the app’s saved data

Sometimes, stored cache or data causes playback issues.

Go to Settings > System > Storage

Choose “Clear local saved games” (don’t worry—this doesn’t remove actual game saves from the cloud)

Then restart the console

3. Check audio settings

Go to Settings > General > Volume & audio output

Try setting it to “Stereo uncompressed” under HDMI audio

Some users with similar issues found that Dolby or Bitstream caused sync problems with certain apps.

4. Reinstall the HBO Max app

Highlight the app

Press the Menu button > Uninstall

Then reinstall it from the Microsoft Store

5. Test on another profile

Could you perhaps explain that to WarnerMedia? the company who own HBO Max:

"The 15 countries are: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia. HBO Max is currently live in 46 territories across the Americas and Europe"

There was nothing in their press release to say that Romania would be excluded because they aren't in an Xbox Live region. If Romania were excluded from everything, then why does the MS Store allow for a Romania region change?
